verb: to flail/to wave about/to brandish


This colloquialism is used to refer to the action of moving your arms back and forth in the air.

  • Wenn man eine Rede hält, sollte man nicht mit den Händen fuchteln - sonst wirkt man, als wäre man verrückt. = When giving a speech, you shouldn’t flail around with your hands – otherwise you'll look crazy.
