schummeln verb: to cheat
schummeln is a colloquialism which is used to refer to the act of cheating or using questionable methods to do things. It can also be used jokingly: for instance, it is commonly heard among musicians, when one player seems to be playing somewhat questionably.
Synonyms: mogeln, leicht betrügenHerr Müller, Alex schummelt! = Mr Müller, Alex is cheating!
Er hat beim Kartenspielen ein bisschen geschummelt. = He cheated a bit at cards.
Ich schumm[e]le oft in Orchesterproben. = I often play questionably in orchestral rehearsals.
