Malaria drug study paused


After warnings from the WHO, the University Hospital in Tübingenhas paused a study into the effects of the malaria drug Hydroxychloroquine in treating Covid-19, due to worries about the side effects. The results of the first two weeks will be evaluated before a decision on the future of the trial is decided.


Wildlife


For the first time ever, an Atlas has been compiled of all the butterflies and moths in Germany, previously the information was only availably in individual states.


Scientists in Lower Saxony have discovered the remains of 300,000 year old forest elephants.


Earthquakes


The coronavirus lock-down has benefited geologists looking for earthquakes. The fall in human activity means that they are now able to detect geological events that were previously undetectable.
