Vaccine production

This week Mainz-based BioNTech have begun production of their vaccine at their new plant in Marburg, in Hessen. The BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine, which has the highest efficacy of any currently approved vaccine, is set to produce 250 million doses there for EU-wide use in the first half of 2021 and then 750 million per year after that.

Cycling trumps train travel

The cycling industry in Germany is growing, which is creating jobs. The growing popularity of both personal and company bikes has caused the industry to surpass the rail industry in the number of people it employs.
