Bundesliga: Dortmund remain seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga after yet another goal from teenage sensation Jadon Sancho handed them a 2-1 victory in Saturday’s Revierderby against Schalke. The Englishman dedicated his stunning second-half effort to his late grandmother who passed away earlier in the week, as he became the youngest ever Schwarzgelben player to net six league goals. Elsewhere, Bayern Munich eased past Nürnberg at home to move up to third in the table, while second-placed Mönchengladbach continued their free-scoring home form beating ten-man Stuttgart 3-0 - they are yet to drop a point at home this season.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old American striker Josh Sargent was included in Werder Bremen’s matchday squad for the first time this weekend and he made a dream start to life in the Bundesliga. Just two minutes after being introduced at the Weserstadion, the youngster scored with his first touch to seal the Green-Whites’ first victory in five matches.
Ralph Hasenhüttl has been named the new head coach of Premier League side Southampton, becoming the first Austrian to take the reins of a top-flight English side. Having made his name at Ingolstadt 04, who he guided into the Bundesliga for the first time in 2015, and then to a comfortable mid-table finish the following season, Hasenhüttl has spent the last two seasons at RB Leipzig before leaving in May. While there, consecutive top six finishes earned him the nickname ‘Klopp of the Alps.’ He is now considered one of the most sought-after managers in Europe, and had even been touted as a replacement for struggling Bayern boss, Niko Kovac.
