Hertha Berlin v Schalke
Date: Friday 31st January
Kick-off: 19:30
Jürgen Klinsmann’s side look to continue their surge away from the relegation places under Friday night lights when they host FC Schalke. Despite losing their last meeting 3-0 in Gelsenkirchen back in August, the Berlin side will come into the match with confidence, having won three and drawn one of their last five games.
Die Alte Dame will be further encouraged by news today of the proposed signing of Polish striker, Krzysztof Piatek. Despite falling out of favour at AC Milan, the 24-year-old is poised to join Hertha Berlin for around £23.5 million, a record fee for the club. The move is subject to personal terms.
This follows the signing of Lyon’s Lucas Tousart, who will join at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Schalke, on the other hand, will be reeling after their thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich. The 5-0 loss has dented their Champions League hopes, and former Huddersfield manager David Wagner will look to get back on track with a successful visit to the German capital.
Moment.de will be live at the Olympiastadion.
Lashley predicts: Hertha Berlin 2-1 Schalke.
